Men's Golf Finishes 15th at The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. -- The Princeton men's golf team finished 15th at The Prestige hosted by Stanford and UC Davis at PGA West near Palm Springs, Calif.
The three-round tournament finished Tuesday with the Tigers collectively 71-over par. Three teams finished in red numbers, as Stanford was 15-under, UCLA was 13-under and UC Irvine was 5-under. The Cardinal's Zack Miller was the individual champion at 9-under par.
The 15 teams included many major-conference schools from across the country. Minnesota, Kansas, Notre Dame, UC Davis, USC, Colorado, Illinois, California, Northern Colorado, Oregon and San Diego, in order of finish, rounded out the field behind the top trio and ahead of Princeton.
Among Tigers, John Sawin and Brent Herlihy led the contingent at 14-over, tying for 55th. Sawin shot a 73, 76 and 81 (230), while Herlihy fired an 81, 71 and 78 (230). Rookie Greg Stamas tied for 72nd at +23 (84-75-80-239) while fellow freshman Juan Pablo Candela placed 75th at +27 (79-84-80-243). Sophomore Max Schechter rounded out the field in 77th place at +37 (95-79-79-253).
Princeton will play its final fall tournament at the Georgetown Hoya Invitational Saturday and Sunday in Leesburg, Va.
