McGarvie and Schmidt Earn All-Region Honors

PRINCETON – Sophomore Holly McGarvie and junior Paige Schmidt were among four Princeton field hockey players that were named to the 2006 NFHCA All-Region team for the Mid-Atlantic region on Monday.
In addition to McGarvie and Schmidt receiving first-team honors, sophomore Sarah Reinprecht and freshman Kaitlyn Perrelle were named to the second team.
Schmidt, the 2006 Ivy League Player of the Year for the second straight season scored five goals and had eight assists overall this season and was a unanimous selection to the first team by the eight Ivy League coaches.
McGarvie led the Tigers in scoring as a sophomore with nine goals and two assists for 20 points. She scored four game winners and tied a Princeton single-game record when she had nine points in a win at Cornell. Fifteen of her 20 points came in League games.
Reinprecht was named to the region's second team. In addition to helping anchor the Tiger defense, Reinprecht helped the Tigers at the offensive end as well, totaling five goals and four assists and had a goal and assist in Princeton's NCAA tournament win over Old Dominion on Saturday.
Perrelle, who was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year last week, was named to the second team. She started all 17 games on a Princeton defense that limited the Ivy League to just six goals against in seven games.
