CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Princeton won two relay events and got individual event wins in the 400-meter and mile races, but Yale edged the Tigers by just one point to win the annual Harvard-Yale-Princeton women's track tri-meet at Gordon Track Saturday.
The Bulldogs finished with 61 points and Princeton 60, while Harvard finished with 38.
All-America Cack Ferrell showed fine form in winning the mile for Princeton, edging out Yale's Lindsay Donaldson by less than half a second in a time of 4:44.57. Catha Mullen and Heather Iatauro also finished in the top five in that event for Princeton.
The Tigers also got a win in the 400 meters, where Laura Landry ran a fast time of 57.46 seconds to edge Yale's Katherine Dlesk. Princeton's Leanne Bellar was third in the race.
The Tigers' "A" relay teams in both the 4x400 and 4X800 races were winners on Saturday. The 1600-meter relay team won by nearly three seconds in 3:54.66, while the 3200-meter relay squad romped by nearly 13 seconds over Harvard.
Second-place finishers for the Tigers individually included Caroline Mullen, who was second in the 3,000, and Jordan Wagenseller, who was an extremely close second in the 800, just four-hundreths of a second behind Yale's Lindsay Donaldson. In the field events, Emma Harper was second in the shot put, while Laura Okpala was second in the weight throw event.
