Tigers Compete at Princeton Invitational Meet

The Princeton men's track team had several strong performances at the annual Princeton Invitational held Saturday at Jadwin Gym, including a top three sweep in the mile run and a top four sweep in the 3,000.
In the mile, Bryan Sharkey won in 4:13.81, while Peter Quinzio was second in 4:15.93. Tim O'Neill finished third in 4:19.06.
Paul Rosa was the winner in the 3,000 meters by an impressive 24-second margin. He ran the 15 laps around the Jadwin track in 8:30.58.
The Tigers also took the the top two spots in the 200 meters on Saturday. Brian Shields ran the lap in 22.50, while Dan Saltzman was second in 22.61.
Ken Sinkovitz won the 500 meters for Princeton, while Ray Lenihan continued his strong season by finishing as the top college runner in the 60 hurdles in 8.02.
In the field events, Alex Pessala won the weight throw in impressive fashion. His winning toss was 18.18 meters, or 59 feet, 7 3/4 inches, almost four feet better than the second-place finisher. In the long jump, Derek Davis was the top collegiate finisher, jumping 22 feet, one inch.
Princeton competes at the Indoor Ivy League Heptagonals next weekend at Dartmouth.
