Greenwood Lifts Tigers to Overtime Win at Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. - After 63:49 of scoreless play, freshman Annie Greenwood scored with 1:11 remaining in overtime to lift the eighth-ranked Princeton women's hockey team to a 1-0 win against ninth-ranked Clarkson on Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena. Greenwood's 18th goal of the year spoiled a 40-save performance by Clarkson goaltender Kira Hurley.
Princeton improved to 13-6-4 overall with the win and 9-3-2 in the ECAC Hockey League while Clarkson fell to 19-8-1 overall and 10-4 in the league. The win lifts Princeton into a tied for third place in the league standings, a point behind Brown and two behind St. Lawrence.
For 63:49 of the game, each team's goaltending was on display as Hurley made 40 saves in the Clarkson goal and Princeton senior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel made 14 in the Princeton net for her second shutout this season.
The Tigers controlled play throughout but were not able to crack Hurley through regulation. Princeton outshot Clarkson 10-5 in the first, 12-2 in the second, 15-6 in the third and 4-1 in the overtime session.
In the ot session, it was Princeton's fourth shot that proved the be the game winner as Greenwood scored her team-leading 18th goal. Senior Heather Jackson assisted on the goal as Princeton completed a season sweep of Clarkson.
Princeton returns to action next Friday night when Harvard visits Baker Rink at 7 p.m.
