Hazen '98 Named Red Sox Director of Player Development

BOSTON - Princeton baseball alum Mike Hazen '98 was named the Director of Player Development for the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday afternoon. Hazen, a four-year letter winner for the Tigers was a first team All-Ivy outfielder as a junior and a senior.
Hazen spent the last five seasons with the Cleveland Indians, serving as Assistant Director of Player Development since September of 2003. He previously coordinated and oversaw the club's major league advance scouting in 2001 and 2002 and spent the 2003 season as the Indians' Assistant Director of Professional Scouting with oversight of the professional scouting staff.
The Abington, Mass. native was a 31st-round draft choice by the Padres in 1998 and he played two seasons in the minor leagues before joining the Indians' scouting department.
