Eight Tigers Earn ECACHL Honors

CANTON, N.Y. - The Princeton women's hockey team was well represented when the ECAC Hockey League announced its 2005-06 award winners at its banquet on Friday night on the campus of St. Lawrence. Princeton freshman Annie Greenwood became Princeton's second ECACHL Rookie of the Year, while head coach Jeff Kampersal was named the league's Coach of the Year for the second time in his career.
Greenwood shared the league's Rookie of the Year award with St. Lawrence's Carson Duggan. Greenwood tied for third in league scoring with 26 points, was first in goals scored with 20, and led all freshman scorers. She was also named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year last week. In addition to Rookie of the Year honors, Greenwood was selected as a second-team All-ECACHL pick and was named to the league's all-rookie team.
Kampersal earned the second Coach of the Year award of his career at Princeton as he led the Tigers, picked to finish seventh and fifth in the preseason coaches and media polls to a second-place finish. He was also named the league's coach of the year in 2002.
A pair of Tigers, junior forward Kim Pearce and junior defenseman Laura Watt earned first-team All-ECACHL honors. Pearce tied for sixth in league scoring and was third in assists. She was named the Ivy League Player of the Year a week ago. Watt tied for second in league scoring among defenseman. The pair represents Princeton's fifth and sixth first-team All-ECACHL honors.
In addition to Greenwood, junior defenseman Dina McCumber was also selected as second-team pick. She tied for fourth in league scoring with 13 points. Two more Tigers were named to the league's third team, sophomore forward Marykate Oakley and senior goaltender Roxanne Gaudiel. Oakley's 23 league points were eighth in scoring while Gaudiel was fourth in goals-against (1.40) and third in winning percentage (.824).
Freshman defenseman Katherine Dineen rounds out Princeton's award winners as she joins Greenwood on the all-rookie team. Dineen had four points in 20 league games this season.
In addition to the individual awards, Princeton was awarded the Turfer Athletic Trophy. A new award that the league's coaches voted on, it is awarded to the team they felt best represented the following ideas Sportsmanship, Tenacity, Commitment and Innovation.
