Princeton is now 3-3 on the season and has won three games in a row after opening the season with three losses. Princeton and Richmond wrap up their three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
In the first game, the teams traded run in the third through fifth innings. Richmond took the lead with an unearned run in the third inning. Salini hit his second home run in the top of the fourth to knot the game at 1-1, but another run in the bottom of the fourth gave the lead back to Richmond. Princeton retied it in its next at bat. After Lucian hit an infield single, he went to second on a balk and then got to third on a failed pickoff attempt. He scored when junior Aaron Prince singled to center field.
The game remained tied at two until Princeton's big seventh inning. Freshman Derek Beckman started things with a single through the left side. He scored on a Prince double down the right field line. After a groundout and a walk, Prince scored on senior Zach Wendkos' single to left field. Another walk loaded the bases for Lucian, who tripled to center to clear the bases and make the score 7-2. Lucian then singled on a single by freshman Dan Degeorge. Princeton senior starter Erik Stiller pitched five innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits. He left the game while it was tied and junior Michael Zaret won the game in relief. He surrendered a single run on three hits over the final four innings. Rob Berzinskas took the loss.
In the nightcap, Princeton jumped ahead 2-0 with a pair of runs in the top of the second. Freshman Andrew Doupe led off the inning with a double to right center. Richmond recorded the next two outs before a single by Lucian moved Doupe to third and a double by DeGeorge scored both runners.
