KAUAI, Hawaii - The Princeton men's golf team finished in third place of 12 teams at the rain-shortened Kauai Collegiate Cup at Kauai's Princeville Resort. Individually, Jason Gerken was the top Tiger golfer with a two-under 70 on Friday, tying for eighth overall.
Brent Herlihy tied for 12th after shooting a one-under 71, while John Sawin parred and finished tied for 16th. At one-over was Jesse Dixon, tying for 24th overall, while John Locke completed Princeton's top five with a five-over 77, good for a 49th-place tie. Competing on an individual basis were Princeton's Drew Malinak, who shot a two-under 70, and Max Schecter, who carded a three-over 75.
Princeton, with a team score of 286, finished eight shots behind Illinois State for first place and one shot back of Western Illinois for second. Illinois State's Matt Miller paced the field with a six-under 66.
The team next competes in the Drew Upton Invitational Apr. 1-2 in Westover, Md. hosted by Towson University.
