ALBANY, N.Y. - The Princeton women's hockey team placed 11 of its members on the 2006 ECAC Hockey League All-Academic team. Princeton led all ECACHL teams with 11 selections for the second-straight season. Seniors Sarah Butsch, Tarah Clark and Chrissie Norwich received the award for the third times in their careers.
Princeton's 11 all-academic team members ties the 11 members it placed on the team last season, which was an all-time high since the league began the award in 2000. Behind Princeton's 11 honorees, St. Lawrence had 10 and Union had nine. Eight of the eleven have received All-Academic status before in their careers and three received their first such award.
Senior Roxanne Gaudiel, along with juniors Kate Hession, Dina McCumber, Allison Ralph and Kim Pearce, receive their second all-academic honors, as all five were members of the team last season. Sophomore Micol Martinelli, Sonja Novak and Brittany Salmon are first-time honorees.
Players are eligible for the All-Academic team if they have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and have competed in at least one-half of her team's games during the current season.
