Women's Water Polo Wins Twice, Advances to ECAC Championship

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The 19th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team picked up wins at the expense of Villanova and Wagner on Saturday to advance to tomorrow's ECAC Championship game against Bucknell. Princeton, the defending champion of the event, started the day with a 10-6 win against Villanova and then defeated Wagner 10-8 in the semifinal round.
Princeton has won the ECAC Championship in five of the last seven years and will look to win its second straight when it meets Bucknell in the championship game. The two teams have already met twice this season and Princeton has a pair of one-goal wins.
In Saturday's first game Princeton pulled away from Villanova and won by four goals. Karina Reyner led the Princeton attack with four goals in the game, while Megan Donahue added a pair for Princeton while Natalie Kim made four saves.
In the second game, Elyse Colgan led the charge with three goals, while Donahue and Anne-Lise Maag both scored two times. Reyner had a goal in the game, as did Claire Jacobson, who scored a single goal in both wins. Kim had 10 saves in the game, including two on 4-meter penalty shots.
Bucknell advanced to the championship game with wins against George Washington and Marylanc. The teams play at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday.
