CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Princeton men's golf team finished 10th at the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, Va., Sunday. Maryland claimed the 54-hole, two-day tournament, hosted by the University of Virginia, with 871 team strokes. Princeton tallied 925 shots. Jason Gerken was Princeton's top performer, tying for 16th with a seven-over 223 (76-74-73).
Brad Tilley of Virginia won the tournament at even par (72-73-71-216) after a three-man playoff. Three players posted a tournament-low round of 68 during the weekend.
For Princeton, John Sawin finished at +8, tying for 18th (75-77-72-224), while Jesse Dixon was 23-over in 48th (79-80-80-239), Andrew Maliniak was 26-over in 52nd (77-86-79-242) and Brent Herlihy was 31-over, tying for 54th (76-86-85-247).
The tournament closed the regular season for the Tigers, who would compete next at the NCAA Regionals May 18-20. The NCAA field has yet to be announced.
