Tinney Finishes Fourth in IC4A 5,000 Meters

Princeton began the 2006 IC4A Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a strong performance when sophomore Frank Tinney finished in fourth place overall in the 5,000-meter race Friday night at Weaver Stadium.
Tinney ran the 12 1/2 laps around the Weaver Track in a time of 14:08.24, less than seven seconds behind the winning time of Iona standout Richard Kiplagat.
Virginia's Ryan Foster and Georgetown's Dan Nunn finished second and third respectively.
Freshman Brian Sharkey got his first taste of IC4A competition on Friday night, competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Sharkey finished the 7 1/2 laps in a time of 9:20.05, finishing in 11th place out of 23 competitors.
Tiger athletes continue IC4A competition Saturday and Sunday at Weaver Stadium.
