Four Freshmen to Join Princeton Women?s Water Polo In Spring

PRINCETON - A class of four freshmen will join the Princeton women's water polo team next season as the Class of 2010. The class is comprised completely of Californians. The class is made up by:
Phoebe Champion
Utility • Palo Alto, Calif. • Palo Alto
Phoebe Champion spent the summer of 2006 playing and training with the U.S. National Junior Team in tournaments in Greece and Italy. Champion was a four-year starter at Palo Alto High School and helped her team to three league championships. She was her school's Female Athlete of the Year as a senior and was the league's Most Valuable Player. Champion was a four-time first-team all-league selection. At the club level, Champion competed with the Stanford Water Polo Club and was a three-time Junior Olympic All-American.
Helen Meigs
Utility • Solana Beach, Calif. • The Bishop's School
Helen Meigs earned seven varsity letters while at The Bishop's School, including four in water polo. She was a member of league championship teams as a junior and senior and was a team captain as a senior. Meigs scored 41 goals and had 111 assists as a senior and was award the Bishop's School's Sportsmanship Cup and was a first-team All-CIF, all-section and all-league honoree. She also was a first-team All-Academic selection. Meigs had 28 goals and 70 assists the previous season and was a second-team All-CIF selection. She also played for the San Diego Shores club team and medalled at the Junior Olympics in 2003 (gold), 2004 (bronze) and 2006 (silver). She was a Junior Olympic first-team All-America in 2006.
Clare Premo
Utility • Orange, Calif. • El Modena
Clare Premo was a member of the varsity water polo team at El Modena High School. As a junior, she received the team's Most Improved Player award and as a senior captain, was given the team's Coaches' Award. Premo also swam in high school and attended Princeton's water polo camp.
Lauren Sabb
Driver • San Diego, Calif. • The Bishop's School
Lauren Sabb played water polo at The Bishop's School and was a member of three consecutive CIF titles. She was a second-team All-CIF selection and a second-team all-league choice in both her junior and senior years. Sabb also played for the San Diego Shores and was named to the All-America team at the Junior Olympics in 2005. In 2006, Sabb was a member of the Shores 18s team that claimed the silver medals at the Junior Olympics.
