January 27, 2007 | Women's Track and Field
The Princeton women's track team had a strong day in both the field and distance events as the Tigers returned to action at George Mason's Patriot Games Saturday afternoon in Virginia.
On the track, Christy Johnson's time of 9:35.70 in the 3,000 meters was more than 17 seconds better than the second-place time. The Tigers also had the top two collegiate runners in the mile as Liz Costello and Catha Mullen finished second and third respectively in just under 4:51.
The Tigers' distance medley relay also was victorious on Saturday, finishing their race in a time of 12:20.47 for a 12-second win.
In the field events, Emma Harper's toss of 12.72 meters was good for a victory in the shot put, while her throw of 14.01 meters in the 20-lb. weight placed her third in that event. Christina Argyros cleared 1.60 meters to finish second in the high jump competition, while Jess Kloss's clearance of 3.50 meters placed her third in the pole vault.
Agatha Offorjebe had a strong finish for the Tigers in the 200 meters on the track, placing third overall in the competition in a time of 25.68 seconds.
