The Princeton field hockey team completes its regular-season home schedule on Tuesday night when Monmouth visits Class of '52 Stadium at 6 p.m. The Tigers enter the game 11-4 this season and have won their last seven games.
Princeton's seven-game winning streak is the longest Princeton winning streak since the team won 10 games in a row in 2001. The streak reached seven on Friday when the Tigers down Virginia Commonwealth 5-1. In the game, three Tigers recorded multiple points, led by junior Holly McGarvie's two goals and sophomore Christina Bortz's goal and two assists. Also adding goals were senior Paige Schmidt and sophomore Kaitlin Donovan.
After Tuesday's game the Tigers have one regular-season game remaining on the schedule on Friday night against Penn. Princeton is a full game ahead of Cornell, Harvard and Yale in the standings and can sew up the outright Ivy League title with a win.
Princeton faces 4-11 overall Monmouth on Tuesday night. The Hawks are currently 3-4 in the Northeast Conference, After beginning the season 0-7, Monmouth won four games in a row to move to 4-7. Since then Monmouth has dropped four straight.
Princeton and Monmouth share one common opponent. Both teams faced Columbia with Princeton topping the Lions and the Hawks losing to Columbia. Princeton and Monmouth have met just once prior to Tuesday night's game, that coming last season when the Tigers won 8-1 at home. Junior Sarah Reinprecht had two goals in the game and McGarvie, Donovan and junior Katie Kinzer also added goals.
