Tigers Dominate HYP Men's Track Meet

The Princeton men's track team won 13 of the 16 events scored on the way to a dominating victory over Harvard and Yale at the 2007 H/Y/P Indoor Track Meet in Jadwin Gym Saturday afternoon.
Princeton finished the meet with 119 points, 83 more than second-place Yale. Harvard finished with a total of 15 points.
On the track, Princeton won every scored event except for the 60 meter dash and 60 meter hurdles. Strong performances included a 500 meter win from Rich Stewart, who ran the 2 1/2 laps in a time of 1:03.74 to win by more than a second. Ian Thomson and Brian Shields finished 1-2 in the 400, with Thomson finishing in an impressive 49.62, while Kurt Kuehne and Collin Plummer finished 1-2 in the 800 meters.
Eric Beights outlasted Harvard's Chris Green to win the 1,000 meters in 2:28.07, while the Tigers took the top three spots in the 3,000, with James O'Toole winning in 8:28.77 and Frank Tinney and Justin Pines following close behind.
The Tigers won every field event except for the shot put. Alex Pessala was an easy winner in the weight throw, tossing 18.51 meters to outdistance second place by more than two meters. Andrew Park was the pole vault winner with a leap of 4.90 meters, while Duane Hynes won the long jump in 7.10 meters and Scott Henkelman was second.
The Tigers took the top three spots in the triple jump.with Nate Crumpton leaping 14.51 meters for the win. Justin Frick's high jump of 2.06 meters was good enough to outlast Alex Willis.
Princeton also won the 4X400 meters, by five seconds over Yale, and the closing 4X800 meters in a close race with Yale by just more than a second.
