Women's Track Finishes Fourth at Ivy League Heptagonal Championships

The Princeton women's track & field team used the strong performances of its distance runners and relay teams to finish fourth overall at the 2007 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track & Field Championships Sunday at the New Balance Track & Field Center.
The Tigers finished with 56 points, 12 points behind third-place Penn. Cornell's event-winning 159 points were well ahead of second-place Brown's score of 71.
A pair of distance standouts, senior Catha Mullen and freshman Christy Johnson, had stellar efforts in both the mile and the 3,000 meters Sunday, races that were run less than three hours apart.
In the mile, which began at noon, Mullen was third in 4:51.66 and Johnson fourth in 4:52.59 to give the Tigers 10 points in that event. In the 3,000, which began at approximately 2:45, Mullen was a strong second in 9:36.26 and Johnson again fourth in 9:37.11 to give Princeton 12 points in that event.
Earlier in the weekend, on Saturday, distance standout Jolee VanLeuven finished third for Princeton in the 5,000 meters in a time of 16:46.90.
In the final women's event of the meet, the 4X400 meter relay, Princeton finished a strong third. Melissa Swigert, Leanne Bellar, Karen Okigbo and Agatha Offorjebe ran the mile relay in a time of 3:48.56.
Offorjebe finished third in the final of the 200 meter run individually on Sunday, completing the race in 24.85 seconds. Okigbo was sixth for Princeton in the 400 meters, completing the two laps in 57.60 seconds.
Liz Costello placed fourth for Princeton in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:10.20.
