Princeton Defeats UC Santa Cruz to Split Day's Games

The 18th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team bounced back from a tough loss early in the day with a 17-7 win at UC Santa Cruz on Saturday night. Princeton fell to ninth-ranked San Jose State earlier in the day.
In the opener, San Jose State used an eight-goal third quarter to pull ahead from Princeton for a 22-9 on Saturday afternoon. Senior Elyse Colgan scored four times for Princeton in the loss.
Princeton led 2-0 in the game before giving up the next six goals to trail 6-3 after a period. The Tigers were then outscored 3-1 in the second half, before San Jose State pulled away with eight goals in the third.
Colgan was the only Tigers to score multiple goals in the game as she scored four times.

Senior Karina Reyner scored six goals in the win, while Colgan added four to make her day's total eight. Freshman Lauren Sabb added two goals while five other Tigers added a single goal each. Senior Shannon Devore made six saves for her first win of the season.
