Houston Pitching Stymies Tigers

Houston held the Princeton bats to just a pair of hits as the Cougars defeated the Tigers baseball team 5-0 on Friday night in the opening game of a three-game set. Senior Sal Iacono and freshman Jack Murphy earned the two Tiger hits.
After a scoreless first, Houston jumped in front in the second inning when a sac fly plated the go-ahead run and gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead. The Cougars added two more runs in the third inning after back-to-back leadoff triples and a groundout.
Houston added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, with Luis Flores hitting a solo homer in the sixth and Josh Stineman singling home a run in the seventh.
Wes Musick earned the win for Houston, limiting Princeton to one hit in seven innings of work. He struck out 10 and walked four. Junior Steven Miller, who allowed three runs over four innings took the loss, while freshmen Langford Stuber and Ross Staine saw action in relief.
Houston climbed to .500 at 9-9, while the Tigers fell to 1-3 with the loss. The teams continue their series tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
