Women's Lightweights Complete Perfect California Trip To Remain Unbeaten
April 15, 2007 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
The Princeton women's lightweight crew took its winning show on the road this past weekend and came away with a still-unblemished record. The varsity eight competed three times at the 2007 Windermere Real Estate Rowing Classic and never lost, including a second straight win over upstart Central Florida.
The varsity eight opened the weekend with a dominant effort against Central Florida. The Tigers finished in 6:58.71, well ahead of its opponent's time of 7:23.25. In the afternoon session, the Tigers (7:59.18) knocked off Loyola by more than 20 seconds to complete the perfect day. The Princeton second varsity raced against the California open third varsity and raced well (7:49.28), but the open women were too strong and won in a time of 7:29.17.
Princeton's closest race of the weekend came Sunday afternoon against host Stanford, but the Tigers pulled it out. Princeton finished in 7:07.9, while the Cardinal finished just behind in 7:10.15.
The novice eight finished second in its own competition at the Knecht Cup on Cooper River. Princeton finished second (7:14.4) to Radcliffe, but defeated both Wisconsin and Georgetown.
