Seton Hall Defeats Baseball 7-4
April 17, 2007 | Baseball
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Seton Hall took advantage of a five-run second inning to gain a 5-1 lead in an eventual 7-4 win over the Princeton baseball team on Tuesday afternoon at Carroll Field. Freshman Greg Van Horn drove in two runs on a triple during the game.
Senior Sal Iacono led off the second inning with a double to left field and went to third on a failed pickoff attempt, before scoring on a wild pitch. That hit was the Tigers' lone hit through the first five innings before the Tigers started the sixth inning with four straight hits.
In that inning, freshman Brandon Englert and sophomore Dan DeGeorge led off with back-to-back singles. Both scored when Van Horn tripled to the gap in left center. Van Horn then came home when senior Aaron Prince singled to right field.
Princeton's three-run sixth was not enough to overcome Seton Hall's five-run second inning. The Pirates also tacked on two runs in the fourth inning. John Walsh and Casey Hines both drove in two runs in the win.
Freshman Jon Broscious took the loss, allowing five runs in three innings. Seton Hall's Greg Miller pitched five innings for the win.
Princeton returns to action tomorrow with a doubleheader at home against Columbia.
