Men's Golf Ties for Sixth at Ivy League Championships

GALLOWAY, N.J. -- Princeton's men's golf team tied for sixth at the Ivy League Championship Sunday at Galloway National Golf Club near Atlantic City, N.J.
Penn (+52) won the event by 10 shots over Brown (+62). Columbia (+69), Yale (+75) and Harvard (+79) finished third through sixth, while Princeton, at +82, tied with Dartmouth. Cornell (+96) rounded out the field.
Individually, Columbia's Chris Condello won the title at +7, one shot ahead of Brown's Larry Haertel and Penn's Chance Pepitone. Princeton's John Sawin placed fifth, three shots off the lead at +10. He posted a 75, 76 and 72 and qualified for All-Ivy honors.
Next among Tigers was Drew Maliniak, who placed 22nd at +22 with a 76, 80 and 79. He was just ahead of Brent Herlihy, who took 23rd at +24 with an 81, 78 and 78. Max Schechter, tying for 29th at +28, rounded out Princeton's scoring foursome with a 78, 77 and 86, while Juan Pablo Candela placed 35th at +37 with a 79, 84 and 87.
Princeton will continue its season at the Rutherford Collegiate, hosted by Penn State May 4-5.
