Women's Lightweights Maintain Perfect Season With Victory Over Radcliffe
April 28, 2007 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
One of the great rivalries in women's lightweight rowing was renewed Saturday on the Charles River, and it was the No. 1 Princeton women's lightweights who came away victorious. The Tigers claimed the Class of 1999 Cup with a victory over Radcliffe, and they will head into the May 13th Eastern Sprints as one of the clear favorites.
Princeton won three of four races on the day, including all three varsity showdowns. The Class of 1999 Cup was determined in the first varsity showdown, where Princeton's winning time of 7:03.1 was more than 10 seconds faster than Radcliffe. Princeton was even more dominant in the second varsity eight (7:06.1) and the varsity four (8:10.6), winning both by at least 20 seconds. Radcliffe earned its win in the novice eight, topping Princeton's time of 7:19.0.
Princeton is now 7-0 on the season and will next compete May 13 on the Cooper River at Eastern Sprints. The Tigers will remain on Cooper River from May 30 until June 2, when they compete for the IRA national title.
