Field Hockey Announces Four-Member Class of 2011

Princeton field hockey coach Kristen Holmes-Winn has announced that four freshman players that will join the field hockey program beginning with the 2007 fall semester. The four members of the class, Hollis Barber, Hannah Cohen, Alexandra Douwes and Jennifer King, will join Princeton's 19 returning players.
Hollis Barber was a member of two USFHA U19 travel teams, touring Argentina in 2007 and Holland in 2006. The Toledo, Ohio native was a 2006 high school All-America, a two-time high school All-West member and a three-time member of the All-Ohio team while playing at Ottawa Hills High School. Barber, a back/midfielder has been involved with the USFHA for several years and in addition to her two years on the U19 team, she was on the U16 team that toured Holland in 2004 and 2005. She was a USFHA Olympic Development Select team member in 2005 and 2006 and went to the Junior National Camp in 2006. Barber played in the 2005 USFHA CanAm Challenge in Vancouver, as well as the 2003 and 2004 AAU U16 Junior Olympics. She has played in the USFHA Nationals each of the past five seasons.
Hannah Cohen competed along with Barber on the U19 team that toured Holland in 2006. The Durham, N.C., native is a midfielder/striker and also has extensive USFHA experience, playing at the National Futures Tournament from 2003-07 and competing at the U19 CanAm Challenge in 2005 and 2006. Cohen was an Olympic Development Select and attended the Junior National Camp in 2005 and 2006 and was a member of the 2005 U16 National Team. Cohen also played for Durham Academy and was a part of three state championships. She was an all-state selection in 2005 and 2006 and a regional All-America the same years.
Alexandra Douwes played with the Gooische Hockey Club and was a captain of her club team three years in a row. The team won the Topklasse championship in two of those seasons. Douwes plays the backfield and is a native of Bussum, Netherlands.
Jennifer King has been the varsity starting goalkeeper at the Greenwich Academy for three seasons and a member of three league championship teams and was All-League selection as a junior and senior. The Greenwich, Conn., native has competed at the USFHA Futures and Futures Regional Tournaments from 2004-2007 and was at the U16 National Futures Tournament in 2004, and the U19 Tournament in 2005 and 2006.
The Princeton field hockey team finished the 2006 season with a 12-7 overall record, a perfect 7-0 record in Ivy League play and made it to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. The Tigers begin their 2007 season on Sun., Sept. 2 when they travel to America. Their first home game is three days later on Weds., Sept. 5 against Penn State.
