July 05, 2007 | Field Hockey
The Princeton field hockey team embarks on its weeklong tour of Argentina on Monday, three months after a winter storm cancelled the originally scheduled trip during Spring Break. The Princeton contingent will arrive in Argentina on Monday night and spend the week training, competing and experiencing the rich Argentine culture.
Tuesday will be the team's first full day in Argentina and will include watching an Argentine Premier League game and exploring Recoleta, one of the most chic neighborhoods in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aeries.
On Wednesday the team has a morning practice, followed by a visit to Estancia Santa Susana, an Argentine ranch. In the afternoon, the team will attend a professional soccer game and the evening will conclude with a boat cruise on the Tigre delta of the Parana River.
Princeton will tour the city of Buenos Aeries on Thursday morning, then play its first of three games in Argentina when it faces Ciudad de Buenos Aeries. The next day the Tigers will participate in a community service program with Argentine orphans before facing SCM in another game.
Princeton's game schedule concludes on Saturday when the team faces Club Nautico Hacoaj. Also on Saturday, the team will visit the Guillermo Vilas tennis club and later, watch a demonstration from Argentine National Team players and coaches.
Princeton's final two days in Argentina include another boat cruise, tango lessons and shopping. The trip concludes on Monday, July 16 when the team will visit the Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place of Eva Peron, in the morning.
The group will then leave to fly back to the United States on Tuesday evening and will arrive in New Jersey on Tuesday morning.
