Nine Princetonians Head To Germany For World Rowing Championships

Former world champion Steve Coppola '06 heads a band of Princeton Tigers who will head to Munich, Germany for the 2007 World Rowing Championships. Eight Tigers, including members of both the 2006 men's and women's Eastern championship squads, will compete during the weeklong competition, while men's lightweight coach Greg Hughes will serve as a U.S. assistant coach.
Coppola and former teammate Alex Hearne '06 , both of whom won Eastern and Royal Henley golds during their senior seasons, will race for the U.S. men's 8+. Coppola led the men's squad to the 2005 world championship when the competition was held in Gifu, Japan. Another member of the 2006 Eastern champion squad, Sam Loch '06, will compete for the Australia 4-. Jamie Ferris '04 will compete for the Canadian 4x, while Simon Carcagno '98 will compete for the U.S. men's lightweight 2-. Jesse Karmazin '07 will compete for the U.S. Men's Adaptive Coxed Four.
On the women's side, former Eastern and NCAA champion Caroline Lind '06 will compete for the U.S. 8+, while Lia Pernell '03 will compete for the U.S. 4x.
Hughes will coach the U.S. 4+.
