Women's Volleyball Sweeps LaSalle, Enters Ivy Play On Five-Match Win Streak
September 25, 2007 | Women's Volleyball
Fourteen kills from Sheena Donohue and 41 assists from Bailey Robinson helped the Princeton women's volleyball team to a comfortable 3-0 victory over LaSalle Tuesday night in Philadelphia. The Tigers, who enter Ivy League play Saturday when the Penn Quakers come to Dillon Gym, are now 7-3 and have won five straight matches.
Princeton won the match 30-22, 30-28, 30-25. LaSalle fell to 8-10 with the loss.
Donohue led all players with 14 kills, while Ensign had 10 kills and only one error. Parker Henritze had nine kills and 16 digs for Princeton, while libero Jenny McReynolds had a match-best 17 digs. Junior Bailey Robinson led the offense with 41 assists and helped Princeton hit .268 for the match.
After a solid win in the first game, the Tigers found themselves trailing in the second before a 3-0 service run by Robinson. Henritze and Torri Patel added small runs on their serves to help the Tigers open a slim lead. It would be a battle of sideouts late, until a service error and an attack error doomed LaSalle to a second-game loss. Princeton rallied in the third game, took control late and pulled away with the five-point win.
The Tigers will host Penn at 7 p.m. Saturday at Dillon Gym.
