September 27, 2007 | Women's Water Polo
PRINCETON -- Five in-season tournaments and a weeklong trip to California highlight the 2008 Princeton women's water polo schedule. The season kicks off the weekend of Feb. 16-17 at home with the Princeton Invitational.
Last season the Tigers reached the title games of both the Southern and Eastern Championships en route to a 20-9 record. Princeton will look to take it one step farther when the upcoming season kicks off in February.
Princeton will open the season at home with the Princeton Invitational. The tournament will feature several teams including Michigan, Indiana and San Diego State. The Tigers then host Wagner in a non-conference game on Feb. 20, which will be their last home game in nearly six weeks, before hosting a league weekend in early April.
In between those home dates, the Tigers will travel to Maryland for the Maryland Invitational in late February and the Elite Six in early March. The Elite Six features the two top teams from each of the CWPA's three divisions and will include Princeton and Maryland from the South, Hartwick and Brown from the North and Michigan and Indiana from the West.
Two weeks later the Tigers embark on their Spring Break trip to California on March 14. Princeton spends the first several days at San Diego State to play several different teams. Princeton will then conclude the week in the Los Angeles area.
Princeton returns East for the league schedule beginning with a game at Bucknell, then plays all three league teams, Bucknell, Maryland and George Washington at home on the April 5-6 weekend. Princeton completes the league schedule a week later at Maryland and GW.
The season wraps up with the Southern Championships at Bucknell and the Eastern Championships at Michigan.
