Sherry to Appear for U.S. at Upcoming U-18 World Championships
January 02, 2008 | Women's Ice Hockey
Princeton freshman defenseman Sasha Sherry will represent the United States at the upcoming 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's Under-18 Championship held from Jan. 7-12 in Calgary. Sherry currently leads all ECAC Hockey defensemen in scoring during her freshman campaign.
Sherry is the lone collegiate player on the U.S. roster. In her first season of college hockey, Sherry has scored two goals and added 13 assists for 15 points, which ranks second on the Princeton roster. Her 15 points ranks fourth in the nation among defensemen and she ranks 11th among all freshmen in the nation.
The U.S. opens the tournament on Jan. 7 against Russia and also faces Switzerland and Sweden in pool play, before the medal round begins on Jan. 11. Because of the tournament, Sherry will be absent from the Princeton lineup for this weekend's series against Connecticut, and next weekend's league games against Yale and Brown.
