Women's Hockey Hosts Rensselaer and Union This Weekend

The Princeton women's hockey team came out of the exam break strong with a 6-2 win on Tuesday at Quinnipiac and will look to stay hot when they host Rensselaer and Union this weekend at Hobey Baker Rink.
Princeton improved to 9-8-4 overall and 7-6-1 in ECAC Hockey with Tuesday win at Quinnipiac. Princeton fell behind three minutes into the game, but stormed back to win the game running away. Seniors Brittany Salmon and Marykate Oakley each had a goal and two assists in the win, while senior Sonja Novak added two goals and senior Lizzie Keady scored the game winner and added an assist. The Tigers are now 4-1-2 in their last seven games dating back into December.
Princeton's win on Tuesday moved the Tigers to a tie for fifth place with Colgate in the ECAC Hockey standings with 15 points. The pair currently sit two points out of fourth, the final home ice playoff spot. Harvard sits atop the league standings with a 14-0 record. St. Lawrence is second with 24 points, Clarkson is third with 19 points and Dartmouth has 17 points. Yale sits in seventh, a point behind Princeton with 14 points, while Cornell holds the final playoff spot with 13 points.
Oakley's three points at Quinnipiac added to her team-leading 23 points this season. She has five points in her last four games. Junoir Katherine Dineen has also had a strong offensive presence of late, totaling six points over the final three games, including a pair of helpers at Quinnipiac. She was also +4 in the win.
Princeton returns home this weekend for the first of four weekends of league play in February. The stretch begins this weekend as Rensselaer and Union visit Baker Rink on Friday and Saturday.
The weekend begins on Friday night against Rensselaer. The Engineers are 11-10-4 overall and 4-7-3 in league play. After losing to Princeton on Dec. 8, RPI went a six-game unbeaten streak before being swept last weekend by St. Lawrence and Clarkson at home, losing both games by scores of 3-0.
Princeton is 2-1 all-time against Rensselaer and won the only meeting between the two played at home. Princeton won that game 3-2 last season as Oakley and Keady scored for the Tigers. Princeton also defeated Rensselaer 3-0 earlier this season in Troy. Freshman Laura Martindale, Salmon and sophomore Melanie Wallace scored for Princeton in the win, while junior Kristen Young made 12 saves for the shutout win.
Princeton completes the weekend on Saturday afternoon against Union. The Dutchwomen are 3-19-2 overall and 0-12-2 in league play. Union was swept last weekend by Clarkson and St. Lawrence, but had won its previous two games, sweeping Sacred Heart.

Princeton topped Union 7-0 earlier this season as junior Annie Greenwood scored twice and Oakley, sophomore Maddie Endicott and freshman Carolina Park each had two points.
