Ensign Powers Volleyball Past Cornell In Three Games
October 31, 2008 | Women's Volleyball
Senior Lindsey Ensign made sure the Princeton women's volleyball team wouldn't lose any ground in the Ivy League race Friday night. The All-Ivy middle recorded 15 kills and hit .423 to lead the reigning Ivy League champion to a 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 win over Cornell.
Princeton improved to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in the Ivy League with the win over Cornell and remained a half game behind Yale, a 3-0 winner at Harvard. Cornell entered the weekend in third place but picked up its third loss in the league and will need help to get back into Ivy championship contention.
Ensign was far from the only senior pushing Princeton closer to a second straight Ivy title. Parker Henritze, the 2007 Ivy League Player of the Year, recorded six kills and 13 assists, Kelli Grobe had eight kills and Bailey Robinson led the offense with 39 assists. Junior outside hitter Sheena Donohue added 10 kills, while freshman middle Cathryn Quinn had seven kills and two blocks. Freshman Hillary Ford continued her stellar play at home with 22 assists.
Princeton will take on Columbia Saturday at 4; the Tigers swept Columbia in three games earlier this season in New York City.
