Volleyball Sweeps Dartmouth For Sixth Straight Win
November 07, 2008 | Women's Volleyball
The Princeton women's volleyball team put forth a strong effort in an always-challenging road match in Hanover to defeat the Dartmouth Big Green 3-0. Junior outside Sheena Donohue had a huge game for the Tigers, who kept pace with front-running Yale.
Against an opponent that took it to a fifth game last year, Princeton took control from the start and earned a 25-19, 25-18, 25-23 victory. After comfortable wins in the first two sets, Princeton found itself in a tight final set. After trailing most of the way, Dartmouth fought to a 22-22 tie. Following a pair of sideouts, a Dartmouth error gave Princeton match point. Madeline Baird's attempt for Dartmouth was blocked by Bailey Robinson and Lindsey Ensign to clinch the win.
Donohue led Princeton with 14 points, 21 digs and a .310 attack percentage, while fellow outside Parker Henritze recorded 15 kills and 12 digs. Ensign added 11 kills and three blocks, while Robinson added 43 assists and four digs.
Princeton will play its final road game of the regular season Saturday at 4 p.m. against the Harvard Crimson. A win would put Princeton at 10-1 in the Ivy League and assure it of no worse than a half-game deficit in the league standings behind Yale. The Bulldogs, currently 10-1, will take on Cornell at 4 p.m.
