Princeton Skates to 2-2 Tie at Brown

PROVIDENCE -- Freshman Sasha Sherry scored on the power play early in the third period to lift the Princeton women's hockey team to a 2-2 tie at Brown on Saturday afternoon. Greenwood and senior Micol Martinelli scored in the tie.
Princeton dug itself into a hole early as Brown scored twice in the first 3:01 of the game to take a 2-0 lead. Hayley Moore scored the first goal on the power play, then Kath Surbey scored at 3:01 to make it 2-0 Brown.
The Tigers took control for there, outshooting Brown 49-21 in the game. Princeton cut the lead in half midway through the second period when Martinelli scored from sophomore Julie Flynn for her second goal of the season.
The Brown lead remained at 2-1 entering the third but Sherry's fifth goal of the season and third of the weekend at 1:45 of the third drew the teams even at 2-2. It was assisted by junior Katherine Dineen and senior Marykate Oakley.
Princeton junior goaltender Kristen Young made 19 saves in the tie, while Brown's Nicole Stock stopped 47 shots.
Princeton is now 12-8-5 overall and 10-6-2 in ECAC Hockey. The Tigers return home next weekend to host Harvard and Dartmouth.
