Women's Water Polo Tops Pacific 9-4

SAN DIEGO -- Junior Claire Jacobson scored three goals to help lead the 20th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team to a 9-4 win against Pacific on Friday afternoon at the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State.
Princeton held a slight 2-1 advantage at the end of a tightly played
first quarter before back-to-back goals from senior Kara Murphy and sophomore Helen
Meigs gave the Tigers a 4-1 lead. Princeton outscored Pacific 2-1 in the three of the four periods and outscored UOP 3-1 in the second quarter. Princeton led 5-2 at the half and grew that margin throughout the second half.
Jacobson led Princeton with three scored to lift her season total to 17, which ranks second on the team. Sophomore Phoebe Champion scored twice and four others added goals. Princeton goalkeepers Natalie Kim and Christina Michel combined for eight saves in the win.
Princeton continues the Aztec Invitational with two games tomorrow. Princeton takes on 15th-ranked UC San Diego and CSU Bakersfield tomorrow.
