PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Junior Dan DeGeorge hit a leadoff single and then came around to score the lone run as the Princeton baseball team defeated Rutgers 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Bainton Field. Four Tiger pitchers combined to three-hit the Scarlet Knights.

Princeton had four hits in the game, with two coming from DeGeorge. He started the game with a single to right field. He went to second base on a passed ball and the went to third on consecutive walks, before scoring on a walk drawn by senior Spencer Lucian, for the game's only run.

DeGeorge added a single in the seventh inning, with the other hits coming from sophomore Jack Murphy in the eighth and sophomore Jon Broscious in the ninth.

Sophomore Langford Stuber got the win, allowing no runs on a hit in four innings. Freshmen Matt Welsh had a perfect 1.2 innings before freshman David Palms allowed two hits in 2.1 innings. Freshman Dan Barnes struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth for the save. Rutgers starter Tony Wargo took the loss. He struck out 11, but walked seven and allowed a run on two hits.

Princeton is now 8-9 overall this season starts its league season this weekend with Ivy League doubleheaders against Dartmouth and Harvard at Clarke Field.
