Hill's heights: Freshman Krystal Hill has led Princeton in scoring in three of the last four games, including both last weekend while scoring a season/career-best 19 points Friday against Brown. And despite being one of the smaller players on the team, she also led the team in rebounding in all three games in which she was the leading scorer.
1,600 chase continues: In addition to the chase for a seat at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. continuing, so does the chase for membership in Princeton's 1,600-point club. Only three women's players (and one man, Bill Bradley '65) have scored that many points, and Meagan Cowher is 11 points from joining that group. She could also eclipse her former teammate, Becky Brown '06, this weekend for third place on the Princeton career list. Brown had 1,608 points.
Field goals record: Meagan Cowher has 183 field goals this season, the fourth most in Princeton history. She is already the only Tiger with three seasons of more than 160 field goals and will eclipse the single-season record (202, Ellen Tomasiewicz '82, 1980) with 20 field goals over the final three games.
Longevity: Ali Prichard has the chance to tie the Princeton record for most games played. If Prichard plays the three games left in the regular season, she will equal Andrea Razi '96 at 109 total games played.
Brown firsts: Princeton's 67-59 win over Brown last Friday night was the first time this season Princeton won a game in which it was behind at the half, in which it was outrebounded and in which it was outshot from the field. It was also Princeton's first Friday night win of the season.
...and an encore: Princeton came from behind again Saturday night against Yale and won despite being outshot and outrebounded.
Hill honored: Krystal Hill became Princeton's second Ivy League Rookie of the Week Mar. 3 with her back-to-back double-digit scoring games. Addie Micir was the other, claiming the award Dec. 17.
More Brown: Princeton's 47 points in the second half against Brown bettered its half high for the season by 10 points. That also came against Brown in the season's first meeting in Providence.
Around the Ivy: Harvard is in the driver's seat and will clinch a repeat Ivy title with two wins this weekend at Brown and Yale. If Harvard trips up, Cornell and Dartmouth are both one game back. With Princeton-Penn the only game after this weekend, the Ivy League will either have a single champion by Saturday night or will have multiple champions who will play in a playoff next week to decide the NCAA Tournament automatic bid recipient.
Now shooting: Meagan Cowher has taken 409 shots this season, just 16 fewer than the Princeton single-season record of 425 by Ellen Tomasiewicz '82 in 1980.
Don't give it away: Princeton commits a league-low 15.8 turnovers per game and has not had a 20-turnover game since Dec. 5, 2007, when it had 22 giveaways against NJIT. Princeton's turnover average is ranked 50th in Division I as of Mar. 2, its highest ranking in any statistical category.
Scoring race update: Yale's Melissa Colborne made a big stride last weekend toward wrenching the Ivy League scoring title from defending champion Meagan Cowher. Colborne scored 22 against Penn and 20 at Jadwin Saturday night while Cowher added 24 total points last weekend. Though Cowher leads Colborne on the season 16.7 to 16.2 ppg, the scoring title is decided in Ivy games. There, Colborne is averaging 17.1 ppg to Cowher's 15.1.
Cowher in the NCAA rankings: Meagan Cowher is Princeton's only individual in the NCAA rankings with her 16.7 points per game ranking 76th in Division I as of Mar. 2.
Tigers for threeeee: Princeton attempted 24 three-pointers against Brown and 13 against Yale, bringing its streak of attempting a double-digit number of three-pointers to 28 games. The high for this year was 29 threes attempted against Syracuse, making a season-high 12.
We love the 60s: Princeton has reached the 60-point mark in its last three games, the second-longest streak of the season after five games in November. Six of Princeton's seven wins have come when Princeton scores 60 or more.
Scoring streak: Meagan Cowher has scored a point in 84 straight games. The next-closest active Princeton streak is 15 games, belonging to Whitney Downs.
Last time against Columbia: Columbia outscored Princeton 31-2 over the half's final 10-plus minutes Feb. 9 to turn a two-point Tiger lead into a 27-point halftime deficit in a 78-64 defeat. Michele Gage had a double-double for the Lions with 24 points and 13 rebounds and was one of four Columbia players in double-figures. Columbia outrebounded Princeton 49-34 and Meagan Cowher led Princeton with 19 points.
Last time against Cornell: Gretchen Gregg led all scorers with 21 points Feb. 8 in a 77-73 Cornell win. Krystal Hill led the Tigers with 18 points. Cornell led by double digits as late as 5:33 to play with an 11-point lead before the Tigers cut it to three with 90 seconds left and two with 14 seconds left and the ball. But Princeton couldn't get off a good shot and Cornell sealed the win.
From the line: Princeton continued its streak of making at least 10 free throws into a ninth straight game, its longest such stretch this season.
Follow the leader: Six Tigers have led the team in scoring in games this season. Meagan Cowher has led or co-led the team 19 times while Krystal Hill is next with four games.
