Men's Tennis Falls At Harvard, 6-1
April 12, 2008 | Men's Tennis
The Princeton men's tennis team fell to first-place Harvard by a 6-1 score Saturday afternoon in Cambridge. The match was a tight one despite the final score, with four singles matches featuring either a 7-5 set or a tiebreak.
The Crimson, now 4-0 in the Ivy League, won the top two doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Princeton (9-9, 1-4 Ivy) challenged in singles, but the Crimson won five of the six matches.
At No. 1 singles, Princeton's Peter Capkovic had a nice win over Harvard No. 1 Ashwin Kumar, winning an extended 17-15 tiebreak after splitting the first two sets. At No. 2, George Carpeni played well against nationally-ranked Chris Clayton before falling 7-5 and 6-4.
Ryan Kim played a close match for Princeton at No. 3 singles, falling by the same 6-4, 7-6 scores to Dan Nguyen.
Capkovic and Kim won at No. 3 doubles for Princeton.
The Tigers play at Columbia and host Cornell next weekend to conclude the season.
