Women's Water Polo Pulls Away Late for 10-6 Win at GW

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Princeton women's water polo team closed out its regular-season schedule with a 10-6 win at George Washington this afternoon to improve to 16-10 overall and 4-2 in the CWPA Southern Division. Sophomore Lauren Sabb scored four goals in the win.
The Tigers and Colonials played a right first three quarters before Princeton broke the game open in the final quarter. Deadlocked at 3-3 after a period, GW outscored Princeton 2-1 in the second to hold a half-time lead. The Tigers scored the lone two goals of the third quarter to regain a lead and then pulled away with four goals in the final frame.
Sabb led the way with four goals, while junior Claire Jacobson added three and sophomore Phoebe Champion added two. The final goal came from freshman Lauren Brunner.
The Tigers locked up the second seed for the upcoming Southern Championships next Saturday at Bucknell. Princeton will take on third-seeded Maryland at 10:30 a.m. in the second semifinal, while top-seed Bucknell will host George Washington in the other semifinal at 9 a.m. The third-place game and championship games will be played that evening.
