ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 20th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team completed its season with a 9-2 win over Maryland in the third-place game at the 2008 Eastern Tournament on Sunday morning. Sophomore Helen Meigs scored three goals as Princeton ended its season with a 20-11 record.
The win was Princeton's third this season against the Terps. The teams split their regular season meetings and Princeton topped Maryland last weekend at Southerns.
Princeton jumped to an early lead in the game, leading 3-0 after a quarter of play. The Tigers led 4-1 at the half and had expanded their lead to 9-1 before Maryland scored the final goal.
Meigs led the Tigers with three goals scored and sophomore Phoebe Champion added two goals, as did freshman Sarah Hutchison. Senior Natalie Kim made 13 saves and allowed on goal in the cage. Freshman Christina Michel played the final two minutes.
The win ends Princeton's season with a record of 20-11. Princeton was the Southern Champion and placed third at Easterns.
