April 05, 2008 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
The No. 1 Princeton women's lightweights built off its strong opening weekend at the Windermere Cup Classic with a sweep of MIT Saturday morning at Lake Carnegie. The unbeaten first varsity moved to 4-0 on the season by topping MIT by more than 20 seconds.
With an increasing headwind throughout the morning, the Tigers claimed both varsity races to open a three-crew regatta at Lake Carnegie. The first varsity won in 7:14.9, topping MIT's time of 7:36.8. The Princeton second varsity was equally dominant, finishing in 7:50.8 to comfortably defeat MIT (8:33.3).
Head coach Paul Rassam will lead Princeton down to Florida next weekend, as the Tigers take on one of the sport's upstart programs, Central Florida. Following that meet, Princeton will host three of its top rivals at Lake Carnegie. Georgetown and Harvard will mark the first two weekends, and then Wisconsin comes to Lake Carnegie for the first regular season regatta between the two programs in years.
