Tiger Women Compete At Sam Howell Invitational

The Princeton women hosted the Sam Howell Invitational Saturday afternoon at Weaver Track and saw two athletes win events and several others have strong performances.
In the 1,500 meters early in the day, Liz Bergold and Karen Aherne took the top two spots in the race. Bergold's time was 4:45.81, Aherne was next in 4:50.16
Freshman Isabell von Loga had an outstanding toss of 46 feet, 10 inches to win the shot put competition Saturday. Her mark was just inches shy of the NCAA regional qualifying standard.
Back on the track, freshman Bianca Mathabane had the third-best collegiate time in the 100-meter hurdles Saturday with a time of 14.73 seconds. In the triple jump, Bianca Williams' leap of 36 feet, 6 3/4 inches was the fourth-best on the day.
Leanne Bellar's time of 57.62 seconds was good for the fifth-best time in the 400 meters. while freshman Libby Bliss ran a 2:15.60 in the 800 meters to finish eighth in a field that was tightly bunched. Those two also ran two legs of the Tigers' mile relay team that finished fifth out of 14 teams.
The Tigers will compete against Penn and Yale in Philadelphia next weekend.
