Princeton Announces Men's Track & Field and Cross Country Class of 2012
May 21, 2008 | Men's Track and Field
19 members of the Princeton Class of 2012 will join the men's track & field cross country teams at Princeton beginning in the fall of 2008. The complete 19-member group can be found at the above link and here.
The group features student-athletes from 10 states. 11 of the 19 come to Princeton as distance/cross country or middle distance runners, while four compete in the sprints and four are field event specialists. Three members of the class are the younger brothers of either current or former members of the Princeton men's track & field team.
Princeton won its second straight Ivy League Heptagonal cross country championship this past October before finishing second at both the indoor and outdoor Heptagonal track & field championships. The Tigers' score of 149 at the indoor conference meet was just 10 points shy of the previous high mark for a winning team at the meet, set by the Tigers during their 2004 win.
Since 1980, the Princeton men's track & field and cross country programs have won 35 Heptagonal titles, 15 more than the next highest number among Ivy League schools.
