Tiger Trio Named to U.S. Junior Pan American Cup Team
July 21, 2008 | Field Hockey
USA Field Hockey recently named rising junior Kaitlyn Perrelle and incoming freshmen Katie Reinprecht and Kathleen Sharkey to the roster of the 2008 Junior Pan American Cup Team.
Perrelle, Reinprecht and Sharkey will compete with the squad at the Pan American Junior National Championship, which will be played in Mexico City from Oct. 3-12. The tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2009 Junior World Cup, held next summer in Boston.
Perrelle was the 2006 Ivy League Rookie of the Year and was a second-team All-Ivy selection that season. She has anchored the Tiger backfield for two seasons and has three goals and five assists for her career.
Reinprecht and Sharkey will join the Tigers this fall. Both come to the Tigers as highly touted recruits. Reinprecht has extensive international experience and was named to the U.S. Senior Women's National Development Squad last summer as just a junior in high school. She has also toured China and Argentina as a member of the U21 team the last two summers.
Sharkey also has extensive international experience. She was the leading scorer at last summer's Women's National Championships as the youngest player in the tournament and she ranked second among all high school players in the country last season in scoring.
The trio of Tigers, plus the rest of their Princeton teammates, gets the 2008 season underway on Sept. 6 at Richmond.
