Princeton Ranked 16th in Field Hockey Preseason Poll
August 26, 2008 | Field Hockey
The Princeton field hockey team was ranked 16th in the 2008 STX/NFHCA Preseason Poll that was released on Tuesday. The three-time defending Ivy League champion Tigers received 190 votes and were the Ivy League's lone representative in the Top 20. Princeton was ranked 17th in the final poll of last season.
The Tigers will face five teams ranked in the preseason Top 20 that received votes in the poll during the regular season. Those games come against second-ranked Maryland, fourth-ranked Connecticut, sixth-ranked Penn State, 15th-ranked American and 19th-ranked Albany. Princeton will also face three teams that received votes in the poll but were not ranked in the Top 20: Providence, Villanova and William & Mary.
The 2008 Princeton field hockey season opens in less than two weeks when the Tigers travel to Virginia the weekend of Sept. 6-7. Princeton visits Richmond on the sixth and William & Mary a day later. Princeton's first home game comes on Sept. 20 against Dartmouth.
