September 20, 2008 | Women's Volleyball
The Princeton women's volleyball team moved to 4-2 on the season by splitting its two matches Saturday at the Colgate Invitational. Sheena Donohue powered Princeton to a 3-0 win over Colgate in the opener, but Big East opponent Syracuse overpowered the Tigers in a 3-0 victory later in the day.
Donohue recorded a team-best 11 kills to push Princeton to a 25-18, 25-17, 25-16 victory over the host Raiders. Freshman Cathryn Quinn added 10 kills and hit .500 in the match, while senior setter Bailey Robinson recorded 36 assists in the victory. Freshman libero Hillary Ford continues to impress on defense with a team-high 19 digs.
Parker Henritze recorded 10 kills for Princeton in a 25-17, 25-19, 25-19 loss to Syracuse. She added 11 digs, but an .038 team attack percentage doomed the Tigers. Besides Henritze, no Tiger had more than six kills.
Princeton will compete next weekend in the Seton Hill Invitational before moving into Ivy League play. Princeton is the defending Ivy champion after becoming the first team in league history to record a perfect 14-0 record in league play.
