Sherry Named to Preseason All-League Team

Princeton sophomore defenseman Sasha Sherry was named to the ECAC Hockey women's preseason all-league team on Monday afternoon. The league's preseason coaches poll was also announced and Princeton ranked sixth.
The Tigers received 72 votes in the preseason poll to place sixth. Harvard was chosen atop the standings with St. Lawrence second and Dartmouth third. The Tigers finished the 2007-08 in fifth-place in the league standings, which is where the coaches picked them to be in the preseason poll.
Sherry was Princeton's lone representative on the all-league team, which was made up of six Ivy League athletes. Sherry was a second-team All-ECAC selection a season ago and was named to the ECAC All-Rookie team as she recorded 21 points during her rookie campaign.
While some teams kick off the 2008-09 women's hockey season this weekend, the Tigers open their season in mid-October with an exhibition game and scrimmage and play their first game on Oct. 24 against Connecticut.
