"When it's a close game that goes into OT, it comes down to making plays," Coach Banghart said. "We shut down their top players but their role players made plays. We missed a lot of open shots and it's hard to win when you don't make open shots. That said, there is a lot of confidence in our locker room especially when we played badly on offense, but we know we can play well on defense and that was evident by the score at halftime."The Tigers began the game working their way up to a 10-point lead, 16-6 at 10:47. The Big Green started to cut into the lead as it held Princeton scoreless for the next five minutes and scored eight points to make it a 16-14 game. In the closing minutes, Princeton would score nine points to Dartmouth's six to take a 25-20 lead into the locker room.
Koren Schram hit a three-point basket to begin the second half and Brittney Smith added a layup to tie the score at 25 apiece at 18:10. Dartmouth took the lead at 12:29 off a three-point basket from Meghan McFee. The Big Green got ahead by as much as seven points, 46-39, at 6:41, before the Tigers staged a comeback of their own.
Senior Julia Berger led the charge scoring the next five points before Lauren Edwards put in a lay-up to tie the game at 46-46 at 2:35.
Dartmouth went on a 5-0 run and Princeton responded with a 4-0 run to make it 51-50 with 38 seconds remaining in regulation. Schram missed her first free throw but sank her second, to give possession to Princeton. Sophomore Addie Micir dropped in a jumper with 15 seconds left to tie the game at 52-52 and send Princeton into its first overtime game of the season.
Edwards led the Tigers in scoring with 18 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists. Micir contributed 16 points and also grabbed nine rebounds, while senior Whitney Downs made three steals.
