Volleyball Sweeps Ivy League Weekly Award Winners

The first weekend sweep of the season brought Princeton more than just two Ivy League victories. The Tigers, who will enter this weekend third in the Ivy League standings, earned both the Ivy League Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors after wins against both Columbia and Cornell.
Senior outside hitter Sheena Donohue (Los Gatos, Calif. ) earned Player of the Week honors after she led the Tigers on its first three-match win streak of the season by averaging 5.4 kills and 4.1 digs per set and scoring 45.5 points overall. In the 3-1 win over the Lions, Donohue had 22 kills and 19 digs. She followed that up with 21 kills and 14 digs, hitting .302 versus Cornell.
Freshman outside hitter Lydia Rudnick (Encinitas, Calif.) earned Rookie of the Week honors after she recorded more than four kills and digs per set in the weekend sweep. She averaged 4.3 kills and 4.5 digs per set and hit .278 during wins over Cornell and Columbia. Rudnick had 17 kills and 18 digs while hitting .317 against Columbia, then had followed that up with identical kills and digs the next night versus Cornell. She also added more than 0.6 blocks per set and scored 38 points for the weekend.
Princeton will host Brown and Yale this weekend at Dillon Gym. The Bears begin the weekend Friday night at 7 p.m., while reigning Ivy League champion Yale visits Saturday for a 4 p.m. match. Admission is free for both contests.
