Reinprechts Claim Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year Awards

The League's coaches selected sophomore Katie Reinprecht unanimously as the Player of the Year, giving her the award for the second straight season. The midfielder ranked second on the Tigers with 13 goals and 12 assists for 38 points. She ranks 19th in the nation with 2.38 points per game. She won one Ivy League Player of the Week Awards during the season.
Katie Reinprecht is the 12th Princetonian to claim the superlative award from the league and she is the fifth repeat winner, joining Liz Fagan, Amy MacFarlane, Ilvy Friebe and Paige Schmidt. The Tigers have had the League's Player of the Year in nine of the last 10 seasons, including the last five in a row.
Freshman Julia Reinprecht was named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Year, also by a unanimous vote of the League's coaches. Julia Reinprecht had 23 point sin her rookie season, scoring 10 goals and adding three assists from the midfield. She won one Ivy League Rookie of the Week Awards during the season. Julia Reinprecht is Princeton's 16th Ivy Rookie of the Year and the League's top rookie has come from Princeton in four of the last five seasons, including 2005 when her oldest sister Sarah won the award.
The Reinprechts were two of the five Tigers selected first-team All-Ivy. Joining them were senior Kaitlyn Perrelle, sophomore Kathleen Sharkey and freshman Michelle Cesan. Both Katie Reinprecht and Sharkey were unanimous first-team selections for the second season in a row.
Sharkey, the 2008 Ivy Rookie of the Year led the Tigers with 17 goals and 42 points this season. She was a three-time League Player of the Week this season. Perrelle earned her third All-Ivy distinction in the backfield. She was a second-team choice as a freshman and an honorable mention a season ago. Cesan scored 11 goals and had 30 points in her rookie season. She was a three-time Rookie of the Week this season.
Princeton also placed three players on the second team. Senior Christina Bortz earned her second All-Ivy and sophomore Alyssa Pyros and junior goalkeeper Jennifer King were both first-time selections. Junior Alexandra Douwes received an honorable mention.
The Ivy League champion Tigers continue their season this weekend in the NCAA tournament. Princeton hosts Stanford in the opening round on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
